Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Dawalt Chapel for Earl J. Buchanan, age 80, of Route 1, Borden. He died on January 9, at 1:32 a.m. at the Washington County Memorial Hospital. Joe Hollrah officiated and burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Orange County. A retired carpenter and painter, Mr. Buchanan was born on Apr. 15, 1901 in Orange County to Charles F. and Emma A. (Smith) Buchanan. He is survived by one brother, Lowell C. Buchanan of Route 1, Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
