Mrs. Arthur, wife of the late Sam F. Arthur, died Saturday, May 7, 1994. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Arthur Thompson and Eugenia Hoyt Thompson Fishel. She was graduated from Lander College and received her R.N. degree from New York Post-Graduate Hospital in New York City. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Bishop Howe Chapter. She was a member of the Plain Dirt Garden Club, the Edna St. Vincent Millay Literary Club and the French Huguenot Society of South Carolina.

Surviving are a son, Sam Arthur Jr. of Florence; a daughter, Josie Wood of Florence; and three grandchildren.
