Glen A. Cooter, 87, of Barton Ridge Road, died Thursday morning, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cooter retired in 1974 from Tennessee Eastman Co., now Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, after more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion in Kingsport and was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Cooter was a Methodist.

He was known by those close to him as a beloved husband and a friend to everyone.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Fox Barham Cooter; a sister: Esther Smith of Rockford, Ill.; two stepsons and a special stepdaughter-in-law: David and Ada Barham and Don Barham, all of Greeneville; three stepgrandsons: John Allen Barham of Greeneville, Jason Barham of Maryville, and David Wayne Barham of Greeneville; a stepgranddaughter: Tamara Barham of Greeneville; a special former stepdaughter-in-law: Carol Barham of Greeneville; a special friend: Jessica Bowers of Maryville; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Vernon and Vernie Parkins and Lester and Martha Stevens, all of Greeneville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was a son of the late Wilson and Eliza Jane Cooter and was preceded in death by his former wife: Mary Jones Cooter; a sister: Ollie Carter; and two brothers: Haskell Cooter and Coy Cooter.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Doughty-Stevens Chapel with interment in Zion Cemetery at Baileyton. The Rev. A.C. Cobble and the Rev. Doyle Pruett will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Jerry Cooter, Teddy Cooter, Doyle Cooter, Bud Cooter, Jack Carter, and M.C. Rollins Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Moore, Herbert Shelton, A.R. King, Dr. Thomas Beckner, Dr. Joe Austin, Dr. Maynard Austin, Dr. Gordon Marsa, Dr. Nathan P. Horner, friends, and neighbors.
