MILLERSTOWN - Minnie I. "Gram" Bickhart, 93, of RR2 Millerstown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

She was born Feb. 4, 1916, in McAlisterville, a daughter of the late Alvin and Abbie (Varner) Gill. She was married to George E. Bickhart, who preceded her on March 31, 1988.

Minnie attended the Fayette grammar schoolhouse.

Minnie's employment history included Nipple's Convalescent Home, Liverpool, and the Juniata Garment Factory, Richfield, and she had worked at a canning factory in Middleburg.

Early in her life, she attended Chapman's Community Chapel and Aline United Methodist Church, both in Mount Pleasant Mills. She was a former member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Cocolamus, and recently, she was associated with St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Millerstown.

Minnie loved her family and enjoyed her home and family times. She was skilled in solving word find puzzles and loved to sew, especially sewing quilt patches and doing embroidery work. In her younger days, she enjoyed picking raspberries and huckleberries.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Ada Mae and Leroy Fisher of Mount Pleasant Mills, Arlene Auker of Millerstown and Norma and Samuel Weimer of McAlisterville; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Vicki Bickhart of Phoenixville; six grandchildren and spouses, Mechele Fisher, John Fisher and wife, Teresa, Michael Auker and wife, Wanda, Colin Weimer and fiancee, Betty Goodling, and Amber and Lisa Bickhart; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Damian, Skye, Makaila and Samantha; nieces and nephews; and Marlene Landis, who was like a daughter to Gram.

She was preceded by one son, Blaine Varner, in 1936; one daughter, Jane Bickhart, in 1950; one brother; one sister; and one son-in-law, Richard Auker, in 2006.

The family will receive friends for the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and noon to 1 Monday, followed by the funeral at 1, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Brittin F. Stimeling officiating.

Burial will follow in St. John's United Methodist Cemetery, Cocolamus.
