EARLY RESIDENT PASSED AWAY

Mrs. Howard Ekleberry one of the very early residents of Bonesteel and more recently of Fairfax, passed away at her home in Fairfax, Monday afternoon May 20th, 1946, after an illness of several years. For the past year she had been bedfast.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bonesteel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. A.J. Kleinsasser. The funeral sermon will be delivered by Rev. Lanum of Butte, Nebr.

Burial will be made in the Rosebud Cemetery near Bonesteel. Pall bearers are: John Willoughby, Henry Schreiver, Charles Kimes, Allen and Raynard Halverson and B.R. Gilbert.

Claribel Simons was born Oct. 28, 1864 in Dane County, Wisconsin. She died at Fairfax, S.D., May 20, 1946 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 23 days. She moved with her parents to Missouri when she was 2 years of age. There she spent eight years. From Missouri they moved to Iowa and after serveral years to Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Howard Ekleberry Nov. 29, 1881 at Schuyler, Nebr. In 1884 they moved to South Dakota. She lived the most of her remaining years on and near their homestead near Bonesteel, S.D. They retired from the farm in 1938 moving east of Bonesteel and two years later to town. In 1944 they moved to Fairfax.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, one son Lowell of Minneapolis, Minn., and seven daughters, Mrs. Alda Alloway of Guernsey, Wyo., Mrs. Hattie Brown, Winnetoon, Nebr., Misses Rowena and Melissa of Fairfax, S.D., Mrs. A.B. Havens, Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. E.L. Havens, Franklin, Minn., Mrs. Gordon Keller, Spencer, Nebr. Two sons died in infancy. Also one brother, Charles Simons of Burke, S.D., and 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
