Birth: Dec. 15, 1918
Death: Aug. 26, 2012

Oretha Hobbs Justice died peacefully on August 26, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born December 15, 1918 to Joseph O. and Bonnie Hobbs in the Bethel community. Oretha married Richard E. "Dick" Justice on September 2, 1939. They lived in Forreston where they owned and operated Justice Grocery and Market for over 30 years. Oretha was known as Mother to her children; Miss Oretha to those she considered her children; Aunt Oretha to all her loving nieces and nephews; Guinea to her brothers and sisters who nicknamed her because she never quit talking; and lately, she was known as OJ. However, her most beloved name was Nanny to her devoted grandchildren, great-grandchildren and to hosts of others she mentored while volunteering at Marvin Elementary and Dunaway Elementary. Oretha loved her Lord, her family, her country and her church. She was a member of Forreston Presbyterian Church for most of her lifetime and later joined First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie where she was a member of the Fidelis class. She was a member of the Forreston Friendship Club. She loved to bake, sew, quilt and fish but her two greatest loves were the Hobbs Family Reunion and travel. She bragged to all who would listen about her many birthday trips, including Natchitoches, LA; Branson, MO; and New York City. She asked to go to New York on her 90th birthday and she had a wonderful trip with family and friends. Oretha is survived by one son, Richard Justice and wife, Marty, of The Woodlands; two daughters, Judy Durham and husband, George, and Cindy Smith and husband, Dennis, all of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Rhnea Barnes, Scott and Kim Barnes, Sara and Joel Gagui, Adam Chenault and Carol O'Daniel, Carrie Chenault and Wes Borchardt, Katy Justice and Lizzie Justice; Deana Benninger and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Taylor Barnes, Morgan Barnes, Stella Gagui and Emily Benninger; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hobbs and brother, John Wesley Hobbs. Oretha was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Justice; brothers and sisters, Leonard Hobbs, J. T. and Mary Dean Hobbs, Eula Lee and Roy Daniels, Annie Mae Hobbs and Jim Hobbs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2PM Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie with Reverend Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Forreston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Fidelis Waxahachie, Texas
