Missouri Lavania LeSueur was given her name ~ Missouri when her ancestor, Pierre LeSueur along with Rene'-Robert-Cavelier Sieur de LaSalle were on their expedition in 1684. Sometime later with a ship's carpenter, an Indian guide and Pierre LeSueur took a canoe from somewhere near New Orleans to the headwaters of the Mississippi and back. "There is a theory that the name Missouri (from the river and Indians) was given to somehow honor his exploits."

I would like to thank Jim Morell for sponsoring Missouri Lavinia LeSueur Foster's memorial. His thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
