Caroline Lawler Dies of Paralysis -- Lifelong Resident of Jackson Township

Mrs. Caroline Lawler, 79 a life long resident of Boone county died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son, Arthur, two miles north of Jamestown. Paralysis was the cause of her death. She had been ill three days.

Mrs. Lawler was born one mile north of Jamestown and her entire life was spent in Jackson township. She was married June 17, 1869, at the Methodist church in Lebanon to Cornelius C. Lawler who died November 17, 1918. She had resided since her marriage on the farm where she died.

Surviving are seven children, Henry M. of Knoxville, Iowa, M. Cornelia Reed of Advance, M. Cordelia Dickson of Indianapolis, Jesse M. of Colfax, Will A. of Roachdale, Claude G. of Jamestown and Arthur T. of near Jamestown. The oldest son John Thomas died five years ago. Mrs. Lawler had two brothers and seven sisters. One brother died in childhood and the other Shelby Trotter died about thirty years ago. Sisters living are Sarah Walls of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Mary Heckathorn of Crawfordsville, Martha Woodard of east of New Brunswick. She is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Ms. Lawler was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She joined the church in Jamestown in her girlhood. After her marriage her membership was transfered to the old Ebenezer church near Advance and when that church as removed to Advance her membership went with the transfer.

The funeral will be conducted from the Advance M. E. church at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. George E. Francis of Thorntown. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
