Cornelius C. Lawler the son of Thomas and Alcinda Lawler was born in Jefferson County, Indiana August 10, 1846 and departed this life November 17, 1918, aged 72 years, 3 months, and 7 days. He was united in marriage on June 17, 1869 to Caroline Trotter. To this union were born eight children John Thomas, Henry M., Mirtie Cornelia, Mary Cordelia, Jesse M., Will A., Claude G., and Arthur T. all of whom with the wife survive. Besides these there are grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren with a host of relatives and friends who mourn.
In his early manhood he joined the Stewarts Chapel M B church but later he transferred to the Ebernezer church. When the Ebenezer church moved to Advance, he continued his membership there where it was at the time of his death. He was also a member of Luther Lodge No 227 I.O.O.F, having been a member for over 25 years.
He was an excellent neighbor, a loving father and a faithful devoted husband. His life he lived at times was an earnest endeavor to walk in the steps of him whom he acknowledge as King.
