KILLED BY AUTO
IVAN BERSHAW, 6 YEARS OLD WAS THE VICTIM
WAS CROSSING STREET
DISTRESSING ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT UNIONTOWN WHERE FAMILY ATTENDING STOCK SHOW
Ivan Bershaw, 6 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bershaw of Lewiston, was instantly killed at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Uniontown by being struck by an automobile while attempting to cross the street. The remains were brought to Lewiston last evening and are at Vassar's. The funeral arrangements will be announced today.
The child went to Uniontown with his parents to attend the annual show. A part of the afternoon program is largely given over to the children and young people and it is customary to allow the children more latitude during that period on that account. The little boy was separated from his parents but a short distance but saw something across the street that interested him and dashed into the street and immediately in front of a machine belonging in Pullman. The boy was struck in the head in such a manner that death was instantaneous.
The attendance at the stock show yesterday was very large and the streets were badly congested for a time. It was during this period and when automobiles were moving through the streets in almost solid procession preparatory to the departure of the exposition visitors, that the distressing accident occurred. It was stated the driver of the automobile was blameless in the matter.
