Silas Bayles, was born in Illinois and was the son of Philip Victor & Jemima Downs Bayles. Silas had seven brothers & one sister. Silas married Louisa P Harter on December 25, 1865 in Hancock County, Illinois. Louisa's parents were John Hebron Harter & Susan Ellen Howell. After Louisa died, Silas married Adeline "Addie" Merrit in 1900. Silas and Addie had no children. Addie is the daughter of Benjamin Wesley Merritt & Louisa Jane Young. Silas and Louisa had nine children, 7 girls, and 2 boys. One of their daughters, Alta Emma Bayles Find A Grave Memorial # 61163259, married John Garfield Crawford, and they are buried in Brashears Cemetery, in Madison County, Arkansas.
