Willis Dawley lived most of his life in Rainsville Indiana. I remember visits there as a young boy with our father, there was an old red hand pump on the corner by the road, my sister Lori & I would get drinks of that great cold water, and he would give us a dime to run to the store for a candy bar. Willis had a violin given to him by our cousin Fairie Creamer Waugh, he would always get the violin out and play for us. Willis survived the terrible tornado of 1974, that destroyed Rainsville. We went to visit him right after the disaster, I remember him saying that he crawled under his bed and when he figured it was safe to look out, his house was gone, the roof, walls, he was looking outside, but luckily he was not harmed.
