The family lived in St. Louis and Orange, CA. before returning home to Plano, TX. In California she was an avid volunteer at her daughter's school and taught computer classes. Once her family moved back to Plano, she worked for the University of Texas at Dallas in the American Literary Translation Center.
She was an extremely hard-working and dedicated employee for 14 years and made many life-long friends there. Jessie enjoyed traveling, caring for her grandbabies, and mostly spending precious moments with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by so many people, as her life was a gift to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Chester Early.
She is survived by her faithful and loving husband, John H. Dickey, her three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and John Howell, Michelle and David Alexander, and Diane and Justin Walton; six grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Jordan, Braden, Parker, and Peyton; one great-grandchild, Isaac; sisters Marie and Becky, and a multitude of dear friends and family members who remained close throughout her difficult battle with ALS.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 6th, 2010 at 2pm at The Ted Dickey West Funeral Home located at 8011 Frankford Rd, Dallas, followed by a gathering at the Dickey's home located at 5117 Longwood Ct, Plano. Donations made to the North Texas Chapter of the ALS Association in Jessie's honor would be greatly appreciated
