SALEM-Clyde Raymond Bowman, 86, of 11364 Western Reserve Road, Salem, Ohio, died at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1923, in Canfield, Ohio, the son of the late J. Clyde and Effie O. (Diehl) Bowman.

Before his retirement in 1985, Mr. Bowman had been employed at General Motors for 19 years as an assembler. He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church and a 50- year member of the Beaver Creek Sportsman Club in Washingtonville.

His wife, Beatrice E. (Bell) Bowman, whom he married Sept. 23, 1943, survives him, along with two sons, Paul R. (Margaret) Bowman Sr. of Jupiter, Fla., and Roger C. (Ruth) Bowman of Ellsworth; a daughter, Marilyn M. Bowers of Salem; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A sister, Esther M. Close, and a brother, Morris E. Bowman preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Joyce Reynolds officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ellsworth Cemetery.
