Kelley Jean Gray Cox, 46, of Waycross died Sunday afternoon (June 27, 2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Waycross and lived here for most of her life. Mrs. Cox was a graduate of the Respiratory Therapy Program at Okefenokee Technical College. She had most recently been a caretaker for Mr. Jack and Mrs. Aleese Jacques. Many people will remember Kelley as a great country music singer. She sang alongside Willie Nelson and Hank Williams, Jr., along with local bands, Southern Connection and Borderline.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Stanfield Gray.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Joey Cox, Waycross; three children, Misty Berrie and her husband Josh, Brunswick, Jennifer Drake and her husband Jordan, Waycross, Bubba Cox, Waycross; two grandchildren, Madyson and David Drake, Waycross; her father, Gene Gray and his wife Patricia, Mayday, Georgia; two brothers, Tony Gray and his wife Sissy, Zephyrhills, Florida and Eugene "Skipper" Gray and his wife Kay, Hahira; two sisters-in-law, Penny Davis and her husband Timmy, Nahunta, Sherry Meis, Waycross; two special nieces, Alexis and Ashleigh Meis; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery in Dixie Union.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
