Charles (Charlie) Czerwiecki, 91, of N.Y. Mills passed away on February 7, 2016, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
He was born on May 14, 1924, in Marcy, a son of Casimir and Tekla Pendrak Czerwiecki. He received education in Whitesboro Schools. Charles served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army in the occupation forces from 1946-1947. He was married to Mary Sambor in St. Mary's Church; the couple resided in the village. Mary passed away in 2006.
Mr. Czerwiecki was employed by New York Central Railroad, B.O.C.E.S., and he retired from the New York Mills School System in 1997. He was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Church and the C.S.E.A. Union. Charlie was always seen driving his pick-up truck around the village.
Survivors include his nieces, caregiver, Bonnie Przestrzelski and Virginia (Emory) Cragg; his nephews, Ronald T. Preston, Larry Roberta and Donald Czerwiecki; also great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. He was predeceased by his brother, John; two sisters, Wanda Przestrzelski and Jean Roberta; and his nephew, Edward S. Przestrzelski.
His funeral will be Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. from Wolanin Funeral Home, Inc., 266 Main St., New York Mills, and at 10:00 a.m. from Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Church, N.Y. Mills, with burial in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery, Whitestown, with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. In memory of Charlie, please consider a donation to St. Jude's or the Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Church Fund.
