Emery John Setzer, son of Herman Setzer and Belle Huffman Setzer, was born March 19,1906 in the Town of Greenwood,Vernon County,Wisconsin. He attended the Debello School and grew to young manhood in that community.
He was married in 1928 to Miss Wynona Totten,of Crandon,Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Setzer established their home on the farm in Greenwood Twp.which is known as the Setzer Homestead. They continued to reside there until six years ago when they moved to the city of Hillsboro where they purchased the residence at 713 Water Ave. which has since been their home.

In the death of Mr.Setzer this city has lost a sincere, able and energetic public leader whose contribution to the progress and advancement of Hillsboro is a memorable and much appreciated achievment. His successive re-election to the position of Alderman,at the last election without opposition, was indicative of the confidence of the electors and of Mr.Setzer's leadership on behalf of the city of Hillsboro.
Those who knew him best will also remember Mr.Setzer for his great devotion to his family, for his constant thoughtfulness of those who were near and dear to him.He will also be remembered as a loyal friend who was always considerate sympathetic and helpful;and as a good neighbor who was glad to cooperate in every worthy project, and to volunteer assistance whenever there was need.
In business,in civic action and in association with other people he won the high regard and lasting friendship of all who knew him. The memory of his pleasant personality, many kindnesses and his conscientious and effecient service will ever be treasured as a precious legacy of rememberance in the hearts of those who so deeply morn his death.(HILLSBORO SENTRY ENTERPRISE,Hillsboro,WI. also available at the HILLSBORO PUBLIC LIBRARY.)
