Mrs. Nathaniel Alters died at her home in Huntsville, IL, at 7:20 o'clock Tuesday, April 11, 1899. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Knight and was born in Brown County, IL, February 15, 1876.
She was maried to Nathaniel Alters, August 5, 1894, since which time they resided in Huntsville. Mrs. Alters united with the M. E. Church in 1896 and lived an exemplary and Christian life the remainder of her days. She was in delicate health for 3 years prior to her death, her disease being consumption. Notwithstanding her intense suffering she exhibited wonderful patience and seemed perfectly resigned to her condition, and evinced a diposition at all times to make it pleasant for those that visited her during her sickness. She was especially solicitous concerning the comforts and welfare of her family.
She leaves a father, mother, three brothers, three sisters, two little boys (aged two and four years) and a husband to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held in the M. C. Church, conducted by Rev. Campbell, assisted by Rev. Thompson of Brooklyn. Her remains were laid to rest in the Huntsville cemetery. (Rushville Times, 20 April 1899)
