Mrs. Oscar Axon
Mrs. Oscar (Kittie) Axon, 84, died Thursday, April 17, 1980 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. She was born Oct. 25, 1895, in Caldwell County, near Braymer, daughter of Addison Loomis and Suzanne Smith Loomis. She was married to Oacar Axon 60 years ago on Sept. 10, 1910. She was a retired school teacher. Mrs. Axon was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, DAR and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar, of the home; two sons, William V. Axon of Chillicothe and Larry L. Axon of Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Hargrave, of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Loomis of Braymer; a half brother, Clifford Sparks, of Braymer, and a half sister, Reena Hickman, Kansas City.
The funeral was Saturday morning at the Hamilton United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Joe Taloff of Hamilton and Rev. Carl Whitacare of St. Joseph. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Hamilton.
Pallbearers were Benson Harper, Dale Oldfield and grandsons, Ronald Axon of Columbia, S.C., Larry L. Axon II of Kansas City, JoJo Hargrave of Osage Beach and Scott Axon of Springfield.
