Isanel Atherton Passed Away Here, Sunday

Miss Isanel Atherton passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 1944 in the home of her sister, Mrs. A.M. Fagin and Mrs. Fagin, in this city.
She was one of three children, born to William Crombie and Elizabeth B. Atherton at Hamilton, Mo., and was reared and graduated from high school there. She learned to art of retouching and was engaged for a time in photographic studios. Later she attended Spaulding's Business college in Kansas City and was employed as bookkeeper with both retail and wholesale firms in La Grande, Ore., for 15 years, after which she returned to make her home with her sister in Jamesport, in 1925, where she had resided since.
Surviving are her sister, one brother, F.M. Atherton and wife of Nettleton; one nephew, Henry W. Atherton, wife and twin sons of Galveston, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Memories at the Davis funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W.H. Ezell, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in the family lot in Highland cemetery at Hamilton. (bio by: Karen Hill Walker)
