Death: at age 78 from cancer

Marriage: to William Turner CATHCART ON 12 September 1875 in Morgantown, Morgan Co., Indiana

Allie came from a family of artists. In her case, she learned the art of making fish scale jewelry. She manufactured and shipped to agents all over the U.S. from her home in Alton, Illinois. Allie had a letter of acknowledgement for a beautiful basket modeled in fish scale work, filled with delicately wrought fish scale flowers and leaves and with a number of small bird's eggs, which she sent as an Easter offering to "Baby McKee," President Harrison's grandchild.

Mrs. W.T. Cathcart Dies at Macon, Ga.

Mrs. Harold Powell of Clayton, Mo. Has returned from Macon, Ga. Where she went following the death of her sister, Mrs. Fanny Alice Cathcart, widow of W. T. Cathcart.

The death of Mrs. Cathcart after a long illness occurred at Macon, Nov. 19 and the funeral took place Nov. 21. Mrs. Cathcart was a daughter in a well known former Upper Alton family. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Cox and she was a sister to the well known scenic artists Frank Cox and Eugene Cox.

She was born Oct, 23, 1856 at Shelbyville, Ind. And was married at Morgantown, Ind. There are one son and two daughters surviving, also twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cathcart is well remembered in Alton as she was a frequent visitor here. Her parents moved to Alton fifty years ago.
