Allie came from a family of artists. In her case, she learned the art of making fish scale jewelry. She manufactured and shipped to agents all over the U.S. from her home in Alton, Illinois. Allie had a letter of acknowledgement for a beautiful basket modeled in fish scale work, filled with delicately wrought fish scale flowers and leaves and with a number of small bird's eggs, which she sent as an Easter offering to "Baby McKee," President Harrison's grandchild.
