She was born Dec. 5, 1921, near Saverton, the daughter of Perry Anderson Lowe and Eva Lee Stanley. In 1923, she was adopted by Dr. Charles E. Jenkins and Hattie Mae Long. Her loving parents raised her in Brookfield, where she graduated from high school.

She won several awards in poetry, including International Poet of Merit 2002 and Outstanding Achievement in Poetry 2003, 2005 and 2006. Cathleen loved her pets: Dogs and cats had the run of her home. Also she enjoyed all kinds of music but especially listening to her favorite band, Bob Roberts Three of Kind, at The Senior Center in both Ashland and Columbia.
