Earlene Faye Dee was born to Earl and Letha McElvania Dee. She was raised on the family farm in Sheridan Township and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1955.
She was married to Duane Arment on June 15, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union were born five children. Four sons and one daughter; Tom, Marvin, Debra, Roger and Brian.
They lived in Grinnell from 1955 to 1981. In 1981 they resided on their farm in Sheridan Township until 2000 when they returned to Grinnell to make their home.
Earlene was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and the LGT Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking and socializing with family and friends over a meal.
