Richard Waldo Prince
(July 16, 1953 - February 9, 2009)

Richard Waldo Prince, 55, of Hogtown passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at his home.

He was born on July 16, 1953 at Hogtown in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Arthur and Dixie Crum Prince.

Mr. Prince was a former truck driver for the Rowan County Road Department and he was also a former maintenance worker for Morehead State University. Waldo was a Christian and had attended several different churches in the area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball and spending time with his family. He was also a foster parent for the KY Cabinet for Health & Families Services in Rowan County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Michael Prince and two sisters, Betty Johnson and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Kathy Gilliam Prince, whom he married on May 3, 1974, of Hogtown; one son, James Prince and his wife, Barbara of Hogtown; two brothers, Tom Prince and his wife, Beatrice of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Fred Prince and his wife, Cheryl of Morehead; seven sisters, Clara Ramsey of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Grace Gulley and her husband, Carl of Muncie, Indiana, Geraldine Read of Anderson, Indiana, Essie Carroll, Beulah Crossland, Marlene Pankotai and her husband, Bob and Berniece Mabry and her husband, Clyde all of Morehead, brother-in-law, Sam Johnson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, sister-in-law, Linh Prince of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one grandson, Dakota Prince of Hogtown & three step-granddaughters, Erika Stokely, Whitley Barnett and Callie Turner and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Kelly Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Prince Family Cemetery at Hogtown. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday and anytime Thursday.

Pallbearers will be John Skaggs, Gary Johnson, Troy Perkins, Brandon Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Clifton Gilliam, Harold Gilliam and Randy Wagoner.
