When he was about thirteen, Elza S. Rigney moved from Washita County, OK to Florida with his parents (J. W. and Mattie L. Rigney), two sisters and one brother and settled in Lake County. On Dec. 24, 1921 he was married to Madge Woodcock at Sanford, Florida. To this union were born three children; Geraldine, Alva Lee and James E. He worked as a truck driver for Conoco Oil Co., among other things.

Elza and Madge were divorced and he enlisted in the SeeBees of the U. S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War 2. After his discharge he became a citrus grower with his father and brother.

On April 9, 1944 he was married to Eva (Story) Skinner at Philadelphia, PA and to this union were born three children; Janie, Judy and Joyce. Together Elza and Eva owned and operated a motel and grocery store in Mascotte, Lake County, FL.

Mr. Rigney passed from this life at a nursing home in Mt. Dora, Lake County, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Edgar), two sisters (Jennie Rigney and Pearl Latimer), and two of his children (Alva in 1946 and Judy shortly after her birth in 1949). He is survived by three daughters (Geraldine Kinlaw, Janie Barton and Joyce Merritt), one son (James E. Sr.), one brother (Harry, of Clermont), several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
