Elva Mae Armstrong was the eldest child of Thomas and Mary Indiana (Leverton) Armstrong. She was born in Montague County, TX and moved with her family to a farm south of what now is Burns Flat, Washita County, OK. She was married to James Guy Latimer on Aug. 10, 1913, in Washita County. They made their first home south of Burns Flat, where their first two children were born, then moved to a farm north of Canute, OK, where they reared their family. They were of the non-denominational Protestant faith.
Mrs. Latimer passed from this life at the Community Hospital in Elk City and her funeral service was conducted at the Hager School, near their home. She was laid to rest in North Burns Cemetery, south of Burns Flat.
Mrs. Latimer was survived by her husband, Guy, and their four children: Neva, Edith, Loyd and Carl, all of the home. She was preceded in death by one son, James Reed, in 1917, and a stillborn daughter in 1930. She also was survived by several brothers and sisters and their spouses, numerous nieces and nephews, her husband's parents, J. K. and Sarah Latimer, of Foss, as well as three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law and their spouses.
