At the age of 19, Mr. Hamilton left school and joined the military during World War II. After three months, he was assigned to foreign duty where he served in the Invasion of Normandy, fought the Battle of the Bulge, and the crossing of the Rhyne River. Following discharge from the military, he returned home where he was employed by Redstone Arsenal until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Hamilton; two step-daughters, Jean Harp and husband, Bobby, of Danville, and Claudia Posey and husband, Gary, of Priceville; two brothers, Raymon Hamilton and wife, Oddlee, of Decatur, and Garroll Hamilton and wife, Charlotte, of Hartselle; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
