James Albert Rowe . . . Jim to family & friends, was born in MT on September 7, 1909 and died in CA on July 17, 1965 from a heart attack.
Jim was the son of Albert Henry Rowe & May Watkins Rowe. He had 2 sisters: Vera & Cathryn.
He lived for a few years in MT until his parents divorce, then moved to CA. At some point, he did live in Washington state (Spokane area). Information we have states that he was in the Army or had enlisted in the Army while in Spokane and was sent to "the Mediterranean theater" . . . i.e. North Africa. One photo (enclosed with this bio) shows Jim "enjoying a camel ride" while his unit was stationed in North Africa. Probably in Morocco. Same bit of information also states he was "a gunner" and "a private" when sent to "the Mediterranean theater", but later advanced to SGT. My husband, nephew to Jim, states that his uncle's unit "left North Africa, went on to Sicily & Italy were they saw increased action" as the war progressed.
He settled in the Santa Rosa area after the war and founded his own company: the AMCO Oil Company (Oakland, CA).
Full military honors at his funeral.
7/30/2013 . . . Recent records found state that Jim married a Rosalie E. Walker. They married on August 9, 1949. Rosalie was the daughter of Manley M. Walker and Edna B. Boyd Walker. Jim and Rosalie divorced, date unknown.
