In 1958, M. Allen Barth, wrote a letter to his only child, a daughter, Jo Allen (Barth) Williamson. It was saved all of these years; and has become known as, "The Letter of Descendants." Here is what he wrote:

The name Barth, originally was Bart (Holland Dutch), he was a great friend of William of Orange, fought the Moons and went with William on an invasion of Ireland, fled to France, and the name became Barthe' (note accent). Part of family fled to Germany, and the name was changed to Barth. My Dad was born in Dietz, Nassau, Germany in 1832. The Barth family was exiled by the Crown and fled to New Orleans. Dad was 12 years old when they landed, and was the youngest of the five brothers. The Bart, Barthe', Barth (pronounced Bart in Germany) was a war like Tribe and the Coat of Arms is in the Cathedral at Kuln Cologne, unless destroyed in World War II. I saw it in 1905, when Mother and I were all over Europe. That is why Mother used to call me her little Prince and her home the Palace. Remember? I'm the very last of our line of male Barth's. Allie and Toby are not Barth's. Although, Allie was adopted by Dad. Charlotte ( Barth) Howell, is the senior female of Barth descent...

And so it was, on the 23 September 1890, that Moritz Allen Barth was born, in the home of his parents, located at 1773 Grant Avenue Denver, Arapahoe, Colorado. He was the only son of Moritz Barth, and he received the best education and all the privileges afforded by a prominent Denver family. He was born with a musical gift of perfect pitch, and his first piano was given to him at four years of age. A Concert Grand Steinway, which was to become his beloved piano throughout his life. He often attended concerts at the "Historic Orpheum Theater" in Denver; and upon returning home would play the entire musical score he had just heard from memory.

M. Allen Barth, graduated at Harvard University; receiving his law degree at Denver University. He was a 33 Degree Mason; with membership in the "Historic El Jebel Mystic Shrine" of Denver.

In 1918 during World War I, M. Allen Barth, was 28 years of age, and an instructor in the Marine Training School at Mare Island, California; when he received word of the death of his father. From his father, M. Allen Barth, would receive an inheritance of one of his fathers most valuable properties; consisting of four Lots 29 - 32, inclusive, Block 20, East Denver, commonly known as Nos. 1649 - 1651 Blake Street, and the Elk Hotel, cor. 17th and Blake, improved. Upon returning home after his service during World War I, he undertook the management of the "Elk Hotel". He later renamed it The Barth Hotel, Denver.

Years later, upon moving to Miami Beach, Florida, in the 1930's, M. Allen Barth, devoted his time to business men's organizations and fraternities. He was Past President of "The National Exchange Club" of Miami, Florida, and his name was inscribed on a granite slab as a memorial to him at "The Court of Honor" in Toledo, Ohio. Also, he was a Past President and on the Board of Governors of the "Miami Acacia Club," of Florida. He was a Charter Member of the "International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 45" Miami, Florida; and he contributed his magic shows and musical entertainment for fund raising for his many charitable organizations.

And so it was, on the 29 December 1963, M. Allen Barth, died, and with that a memory of a letter he written his daughter years before, where he said: I am the very last of our line of male Barth's. And now that he is gone; only history and memories linger on...
