Mrs. Merlyn (Elsie) Carter, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 2, in Collingsworth General Hospital. Mrs. Carter was born Dec. 16, 1897 in Montague County, the daughter of Tom Jones and Josephine Floyd Jones. She came to the Dodson-Hollis area as a young girl and was married to Mr. Carter on August 26, 1931. They farmed at Dodson until they retired. A few years ago Mr. and Mrs. Carter moved to Wellington. Survivors are her husband, of Wellington; one daughter, Velma Long of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; one son, Bill Carter of Amarillo; one sister, Vera Jones of Hollis; two grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
