Jimmie R. Bass Sr., 76, Ottawa, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1931 in Pittsburg to Albert W. Bass Sr. and Cora (Albertson) Bass. Jim attended Pittsburg High School and graduated from the Pittsburg State College Technical School Program in 1959. He started Bass Electric from 1967 to 1999.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1989, retiring from the 127th Field Artillery, Kansas Army National Guard of Ottawa. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901, Ottawa.
On March 13, 1955, Jim married Marianne Schuster. She survives.
Other survivors are daughters Blanka Bellinger, Rantoul, and Ramona Martin, Princeton; sons Jimmie Bass Jr., Canberra, Australia, and Tom Bass, Ottawa; sisters Loretta Goodwin, Willard, Mo., and Alice Stewart and Coretta Gideon, Weir; brothers Albert W. Bass Jr., Carlsbad, N.M., Billy B. Bass, Kingman, Ariz., and George Bass, Weir; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Bass and Charles Bass, and a granddaughter, Michelle Bass.
Mr. Bass has been cremated. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Mound Cemetery in Franklin County. Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, is in charge of arrangements.
