Till Jesus Comes To Raise The Just
Adelphia Florence White a daughter of Major Martin White and Mary (White) White, born in Washington, Rhea County, TN, growing up as a young girl during the Civil War. While her father was serving in the war their home was destroyed and two young brothers died.
By 1871 the Major and his family moved to Lampasas, where Adelphia was educated. In 1882 in Lampasas she married JOHN MARKWARD. Their children were born and raised at their homestead; two died as infants. They were educated in Lampasas and all received TX college degrees.
Adelphia died a few months after the death of their infant son, Solan Lee Markward. Adelphia and John have full length matching granite stones, and a tall plinthe in front of them was erected in Adelphia's name, next to a tall plinthe erected for their firt-born son, John Carl Markward, who died young.
