Owen Davis was the son of Phillip & Hannah (Jenkins) Davis. His grandfather was Owen Davis 1725-1808 of Fayette Co, PA. (death date unk, aft 1 nov 1850 census)

Owen had 4 siblings, John, Elizabeth, Sarah & Ruth.

In 1807 Owen married Mary Smith. The couple had 10 children.

Below is a citation from page 417 of A History and Biographical Cyclopaedia of Butler Co., Ohio.

"Owen DAVIS, one of the pioneer settlers of Reily Township, took up his residence in the southeast quarter of section twenty, in 1811.

For his wife he married Mary, daughter of John SMITH, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, June, 1807. Mrs. DAVIS was born December 27, 1789, in the same county where she married.

2. Rebecca, m. Samuel DAVIS, b. 1810 [no b. 3 Oct 1809], d. Butler Co
3. Philip, b. 1812, d. Indiana
4. Aaron, b. 1814, d. Butler Co
5. Owen, b. 1816--dead;
6. Hannah, m. Henry THOMPSON, b. 1819, and lives near Reily;
7. Charles, b. 1821, unmarried, living in California;
8. Mary J. married Andrew MANN, b. 1824, d. 1850 Butler Co
9. Rhoda, married Allen LARISON, b. 1827, d. Butler Co
10. Ezra, b. 1830, living near Reily.

John SMITH, Mrs. DAVIS's father, came to this county in 1816, and settled where the DAVISes now live in this township. He was an active soldier in the Revolution.

Owen DAVIS, Sen., was in the war of 1812, his wife being left with four small children to care for in a cabin in the woods of the then thinly settled community. Charles DAVIS, one of the sons, was a soldier in the Mexican War."

When Owen died (date unknown, aft 1 nov 1850) he was originally buried on Indian Creek. "He settled in Butler County, Ohio where he died. Many years afterwards his body was exhumed for removal when it was found to have turned to a resemblance of stone. He was reburied in the Reily Cemetery, Butler County, Ohio."
