Emma was actually born January 5, 1862, her brother Lee was born February 1865.She stated her age as being born from 1862 through 1875 through out the years , all different in every record.

Emma married James "Thomas" Maxwell in the parlor of her parents home July 26, 1885 in Canyonville, Douglas, Oregon.

Daughter Essie Maxwell was born July 27, 1886. The young family moved to Baker County in Eastern Oregon where Thomas and Emma farmed their land.
Daughter Ida Mable Maxwell was born three years later January 15, 1889.

Five years after husband Thomas died, Emma married John L. Howard January 20, 1895 in Weiser, Washington County, Idaho. John was born 1867 in Michigan. The couple set up housekeeping in Pocahontas Precinct, Baker County, Oregon with Emma's two daughters from her marriage to Thomas Maxwell.
John's occupation was Steam Engineer.

Son Jack Raleigh "Rolly " Howard was born December 3, 1896,and son Dewey Lynn Howard October 4, 1899, daughter Gladys Estelle "Lottie " was born October 3, 1902.
By 1910 Emma was working as a servant for the William J. Burke family in Depot, Baker, Oregon, she states she is a widow.
John L. Howard states he is divorced in the 1910 census of Baker, Baker County, Oregon.Living on Bennett Saw Mill Road and doing general farming. John took out a land patient of 153.65 acres on the Indian Reservation in Baker County in December 5,1913...At age 63 working odd jobs as a handyman in Eagle Valley, Baker, Oregon.

Raleigh and Lottie are living with Essie and her husband Charlie Bacon in Sumpter, Baker County , Dewey is living with his sister Ida Mable and her husband Roy Bacon in McEwen, Baker, Oregon . Ida Mable died a year later May 10, 1911.

On July 2, 1918 Emma married George Evans in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. They lived in Sumpter, Baker County, Oregon in 1920. Emma's daughter Gladys was living with them. George was born July 1, 1879 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Emma was 17 years older then George.

He registered for the WWI draft,Sept 12, 1918
Occupation, Logger, East Oregon Logging Company, Enterprise, Wallowa Oregon, wife Mrs Emma Evans,. Medium Height, Medium Build, Blue eyes , brown hair.

In 1930 George and Emma lived for a time at 1830 Hartland Ave, Klamath Falls, Klamath Co., Oregon , George drove truck for a living .
George and Emma are living in Mistletoe District, Redding, Shasta, California in 1942 when he registered for the WWII draft.He was age 62 and working for Akinson and Keir in Redding. He listed his wife, Mrs. Emma Evans and their address as P.O. Box 1066, Redding.

Emma's sons died in California, Raleigh John "Rolly " in 1976 in Santa Cruz County, Dewey Lynn died Feb 5,1990 in Fresno County.
It is unknown at this time what became of daughter, Gladys Estelle Howard.
Husband George died July 6, 1961 at 81 years of age in Sacramento. Emma was actually 91 years old when she died.
