Craig was a chemical engineer, a graduate of MIT, who was awarded numerous patents for his work. He married Mary Elizabeth Buttolf in 1945 and they had three children. He retired on medical disability to Poultney, Vermont, in 1974, and passed away two years later at the age of only 53.

Craig began the extensive family research, based on an old family Bible owned by his father, that was completed and published by his son David N. Grubb in 2008: "The Grubb Family of Grubb's Landing, Delaware".
