Birth: Jan. 11, 1890, Poland
Death: Jun. 25, 1936
Lucas County
Ohio, USA

Peter Staifer immigrated in 1900 to the USA from his birthplace of Wola Mieleca, Poland--at the time Austria. The name is also spelled Steifer/Sztajfer. His twin sister was Magdalene Staifer Kulig (buried in Hazleton, PA). His father, Matthew Staifer, had immigrated earlier and made a place in Hazleton, PA for his family. Peter and siblings arrived with their mother, Mariana Dziekam and joined their father. Peter had two children with his first wife, Victoria Lach, Mary and John; and three children with his second wife, Felicia Mroziewicz--Lillian, Daniel and Robert. Peter worked in the mines in Pennsylvania before moving first to Rome, NY and then settling in Toledo, Ohio. He became a tool and dye maker at Ashland Stamping where he met his second wife. His first wife, Victoria, had died in the influenza epidemic in 13 Nov 1918. Peter died of double pneumonia at the young age of 46.

Grandpa--you passed long before I was born, your son/my dad never got over your loss. You would have been so proud of him. He was a hero in the Korean War. He owned his own home and he was such an honorable man and a devout Lutheran. Rest in peace.
