Born to Willie and Winnie Bonner Curvey-the first born of their seven children. Two preceded him in death. Billy Gene and Willie Van Curvey.
He attended schools in Augusta, Elkhart, and Grapeland, Texas. He also attended Booker T. Washington High School and Texas Southern University, majoring in Carpenting and cabinet making. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, in December, 1945.
He married Baby Ruth McElroy, Nov. 7, 1946
He united and was baptized at the Brewington Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Ealy. He later moved to Houston and joined East Bethel Baptist Church-pastor late Rev. Larry, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, late Rev. H.B. Sampson and under leadership of Rev. F.D. Sampson, until death.
He was employed by Baker-Jones Home Improvement, G.V. Curvey Remodeling and Associates. He was also self-employed for many years.
Survivors his wife; three children, Rollie Curvey, Jr.,Jacquelyn Baldwin, and Gerald Curvey; sevengrandchildren and one great grandson; one sister Olivia Griffieth of Richmond, California; three brothers Gilbert(Euraline)Curvey, Morris (Emiola)Curvey,and Merlane Curvey all of Houston; mother-in-law Mozelle McElroy.
