Wylie Jackson was born may 16, 1917 in Augusta Community to the late Josie Rogers and Pleasure Jackson.
He was baptised at St. Luke Baptist Church with pastor Rev. J.R. Woodall.
He attended school at Post Oak Elementary in Augusta. After working many years in a shoe shop, in 1966 he opened Jackson's Shoe Shop. His community involvement with the Texas Rehabilitation Commission earned him recognition in the Nationwide Register of Who's Who in Businesses.
He died Friday, November 2, 2001, leaving to cherish his memories his wife of fifty seven years, Ruthie Mae Jackson, son Vincent (Anita) Jackson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters, Jane Evelyn Daruvalla, Violet Harvey, Carolyn Jackson, Wylene Groves all of Houston Barbara Jean Berlen of LaMarque, Texas, two-sisters, Stacey Bacon of Crockett, Evola Sims of Lufkin; brothers, Albert (Betty) Jackson of Houston, Marshaha (Ruby Lee) Hatch, Jesse Lee Reece of Crockett and Mathie Lee (Ethel) Jackson of Houston; one sister in law, Maudie Reece of Houston.
