Prince Edward County Municipality
Pardon Baldwin was born in Stanstead and educated at Stanstead College. After marriage to Ethel Peck in 1898 they took over the Baldwin family farm, Stanstead East, where they raised five children and a nephew.
He served three two-year terms as mayor of Stanstead. In 1938 he was on the Board of Directors of the Stanstead County Agricultural Society; in 1942 and 1943 he was president and then honorary president. In addition P.W. was a 50-year member of the Golden Rule Lodge at Stanstead.
After his father, sister and brother-in-law died the fall of 1916 from Trichinosis, Pardon and Ethel took in their orphaned nephew Oscar Wilcox Heath.
Oscar's sister, Rosetta Jean known as R. Jean, was just a baby. Her father's brother and his wife informally adopted her. The sad story has been passed down through the family for almost 100 years.
