Son of Caswell and Dianna (Bond) Etheredge. Born in Indian Springs, Butts Co., GA. Married Catherine Alexander 21 Dec 1854 in Butts Co., GA. Reportedly lived in Henry Co., AL for a period of time as some of his children claim to have been born there. Then moved to Dougherty Co., GA where he enlisted in Co. K (Dougherty Grays) of the 51st Georgia Infantry on 4 Mar 1862. The 51st Georgia was sent to Virginia in July 1862 and was involved in 2nd Manassas, South Mountain and Antietam during the time he was in service. He was wounded and captured in Nov 1862, exchanged on 18 Nov 1862 and placed in "Invalid corps). Paroled in June 1865.
Moved to Brooks Co., GA after 1870 and moved to northwest Louisiana (Webster Parish) circa 1882. Elected Justice of the Peace for Webster Parish, LA and was commissioned in May of 1888.
