George W. Riley is a child of Eldridge Riley and Nancy Caroline Wallace. He was the first member of the family to have an occupation other than farming. He was a member of the Odd Fellows fraternal organization. He was the only member of the family to appear in J.R. Lemon's history of Marshall County, Kentucky. According to this history, George left home at the age of 25 on December 13, 1888. He then had a successful career in the saloon business and as a buyer and seller of real estate.
