Birth: Oct. 31, 1868
Calloway County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Jan. 22, 1965

The parents of Effie Bryant Holland were:
Father: Bryant Holland born about 1833 in Kentucky.
Mother: Mary P. (______) born about 1835 in Tennessee.

Effie Bryant Holland married Thomas Folkerth in 1900 probably in Kentucky. Thomas was a lumber dealer in Martin, Weakley Co., TN. Their son, Jessie Holland Folkerth, was born in Martin, Weakley Co., TN on 07 Dec 1903. Effie's husband, Thomas Folkerth, died in a Nashville, TN Infirmary after a three day stay on 27 Feb 1904 according to his death certificate. Interestingly, Thomas was buried in the Yellow Fever Cemetery in Martin, Weakley Co., TN although his death certificate doesn't mention Yellow Fever as cause of his death. The causes of his death are listed on his death certificate as stomach cancer, Bright's Disease (kidney) and heart disease.

For some reason, Ellie and her son, Jessie, moved to Nashville in 1923/24 as the 1924 Nashville, TN City Directory lists Effie Folkerth as a resident and widow of Thomas Folkerth. Also living in her household is her son, Jessie Holland Folkerth, listed as a "student".

Effie Folkerth and her son, Jessie, moved from Nashville, TN to Birmingham, AL between 1924 and 1925 for some reason.

The 1925 and 1926 Birmingham, Alabama City Directory lists Effie Folkerth, widow of Thomas, living in the Ensley (a section of Birmingham) household of her son, Jessie Holland Folkerth, a chemist. No wife listed for Jessie.

Jessie Folkerth went to work for the Birmingham Paper Company in 1927 as a clerk and by 1957 had achieved the position of Vice President of the company. During this period of time, Jessie had changed residences in Birmingham several times. His mother lived in his household until her death on 22 Jan 1965.

Jessie married Marguerite Folkerth, a music teacher, about 1932 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.
