you had another child, Merle. You lived at "Carinya" Kentucky South Soldiers Settlement.
While you were alone at your farm you put your hand under a hen to collect an egg and you were bitten by a Tigersnake. You cut the wound and sucked out the venom. You survived!a true pioneer woman.
You lost your son as a prisoner of war and never knew the details of his death. You imagined him walking up the pine tree row and when you were being taken to hospital you found the strength to look out the ambulance window to that row of pines, one last time.
When Lin was captured in Singapore you were looking after your mother who suffered for months with cancer. You lost your mum and your son.It must have been a terrible time.I remember you telling me of the death of your other son Wallace. You were crying at his grave and couldnt understand that the traffic was going past. That life was going on when you were so devestated by your loss.
We called you "MAYNA" and we loved you deeply,as the best Grandmother in the world. You spoiled us and looked out for us.
Your ashes were placed in Susan Maree Rixons coffin. She was your first grandchild who died as an infant.
You worked in the shop at the Uralla Swimming Pool until you were 80 years Old.You planted trees that still grow. You threw out seeds along the highway to make the world a better place.
