Thomas Pearson was the son of Thomas Pearson and Elizabeth Palmer, and grandson of John Palmer and Elizabeth Everett. The elder Thomas Pearson was a Private/Artillery in the VA Continental Line, George Washington's Army. Under Captain Abraham Buford, he fought at Waxhaws, SC, and was wounded by sword on the battlefield by British General Tarletan's men.
Thomas Pearson, living in Bedford County, VA, with his parents next to the Heckman family farm, married Elizabeth Heckman 10 Aug 1806. Elizabeth was born in PA and was German. By 1810, Thomas and Elizabeth were in Franklin Co VA, eventually owning 655 acres of land. Thomas was practicing his trade as a wheelwright. His property was strategically located on Carolina Road and nearby was the Obediah White Stage Stop.
Son Peyton P. Pearson wrote to his sister and brother-in-law on 8 Apr 1870: "Father Thomas Pearson is no more he departed this life on the 15th of February 1870 at 5 oclock in the morning aged 86 years 10 months and 25 days . . ."
