44th Regiment, 1st Cavalry, Juniata County
Mustered in 19 Feb 1864, three years, transferred to Company D Battalion 9 Sept 1864. transferred to Co. E, 2nd Prov. Cav. Mustered out 7 Aug 1865.

Enrolled at Mifflintown pa., age 20, farmer, 5'9" tall, fair complexion, brown eyes, brown hair. Resided Juniata Co. Pa.

Captain Jones Independent Cavalry from June 24, 1863 to August 12, 1863.

This was a Militia Unit during the Gettysburg Campaign. There were 14 soldiers from Juniata County that had either served and been discharged or would later serve in other units.

Oldest son is William O Walton buried in Red Run Cemetery, York County, PA.
