Last rites held here for W.S. Harrison

A retired lead electrician with the SCL Railroad, Winfield Scott Harrison, who resided on Wilson avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1987 in the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. He was 87 years old.

A South Dakotan, born in Lane June 19,1899, Mr. Harrison had lived in Fitzgerald most of his life. His parents were the late Mahlon C. and Elizabeth Schultz Harrison.

Precedeing him in death also were a brother, Glen Harrison, and sister, Mrs. Hazel H. Monaghan.

He is survived by five nieces, a nephew, and several grand-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Paulk Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Sam Mayo officiated. Rhea Shank was the organist, Ellen Shank the pianist, and Helena Williams and Marie Fair the singers.

Pallbearers were Howard Jordan, Troy Jordan, Jimmy Josey, Kent Josey, James Bynum and Tracy Parker.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Note: Although Winfield's stone is situated on top of his Aunt Matilda's stone, he is not buried in the same grave. Winfield was cremated and his ashes placed between the two graves on the right which are his Mother (end right) and his Aunt Matilda
