Ivy was the fourth of six children born to Jacob Anderson and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Fields. Her siblings were Virgil, Carmel, Vester, Inez, and Aleta.
Ivy met and married a gentleman from Kentucky named Ivan John McFerran on July 19, 1922 in Kansas City, MO. They had one son, Ivan John, Jr. born at home on August 24, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri. After her husband's death, she moved to St. Louis where she met Elmer E. Bollinger and they united in marriage on June 18, 1930. Iva was a payroll clerk for St. Louis County before retiring in 1963. In 1965, Elmer retired from their business, Bollinger Exterminator Service and they moved up to Kansas City, Kansas. She was active in a variety of organizations and loved to travel the world. She was a member of the Sincerity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kansas City, Kansas.
