Greg Belnap Clary
"Meet Me on the Shores of Heaven"
HOOPER, UT- Greg Belnap Clary passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. His long battle with cancer never took away his smile and hopes. He out-lived many of the predictions of his doctors with his will to live.
Greg was born September 28, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to Glenn and Joyce Belnap Clary. He was raised and educated in Hooper where he had a wonderful childhood. He later moved to Santa Ana, CA where he met and married Jan Henkel. They were later divorced but remained partners for life. Just before his death they were married once again to bring everything "full circle".
Greg was a talented musician who spent most of his life finding joy in his music. He played in many successful bands and toured the states with "Hotspurz", "Hired Gun" and "Wasatch Back." He opened for many well known artists and in 1981 played at the Grand Ole' Opry. He will be missed by all that played on stage with him. He was currently employed by Swift Transportation. He enjoyed his many friends and co-workers, always quick with a joke. The family would like to thank the many co-workers at Swift for their friendship and love.
Greg is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, Ian, Seth, Zane (Jennifer) and a daughter, Jade; his parents, Glenn and Donna Clary; a brother, Jeff (Judy) Clary; sisters, Kim Collier and Robin Leversen; many nieces and nephews that loved him so much; and two grandchildren, Riya Elizabeth and Kyler Greg (Buba).
Greg was preceded in death by his loving mother, Joyce, grandparents, Vera and Lorenzo Belnap, Frank and Winfred Clary, Aunt Sherry Lynn Warner and Uncle Frank Clary, Jr.
The family would like to express their appreciation to John Dittrich and the group Restless Heart for writing a song dedicated to him, "Meet Me on the Shores of Heaven," it meant so much to him. John you are his brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ogden Vista Care for all their loving support that was given to Greg and his family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Fiends and family may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
There will be a benefit concert for Greg's children on Sunday September 11th at the Crawlers Club in Salt Lake City. This is to raise public awareness for early cancer screens. It will be a full day and night of music from some of Salt Lake's finest country bands. mail condolences to the family at [email protected]
