Harry was an avid fan of boxing during the early days of televised fights.
On 27 June 1901 Harry married Sarah Bettesworth. After Sarah's 1908 death Harry married Mary F. Davidson 1 June 1910. This marriage ended in divorce about 1920. Subsequently Harry married Emily Anderson. They owned a large residence on Grand Boulevard in Detroit and rented upstairs rooms to long term tenants that sometimes included traveling theatre people who were seeking peace and quiet.
After Emily's death Harry maintained his independence into his '80s and was a winter traveller to Florida by Greyhound bus.
