Robert Bush was christened 9 April 1770 at Saints Mary & Thomas o'Becket Chapel in Wymondham, Norfolk, England to Robert Bush and Helen (Alice) Doubleday. He married Mary Goddard the daughter of Daniel and Mary Goddard in the same chapel 10 March 1798. They raised a family of six 5 sons and 1 daughter. He was a husbandman at the time of his marriage. He then became a weaver by trade. By 1841 he was a farm laborer and he died in that trade. He became associated with the Wesleyan Methodist Sect and was active in it. His wife did not become a member she remained with the Chuch of England. Their children Noah, Jonathan, and Mathew were christened in the Church of England and Daniel, Edwasrd, and Mary Ann were christened in the Wesleyand Church. He died in Great Ellingham but was buried in the Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery (now known as the Parkside Garden) at Attleborough, Norfolk, England
